Where do you use MR-sensors?
MR-sensors, evaluation electronics and magnetic scales from Sensitec are in use everywhere, where movement is being controlled and steered, where paths, angles, positions, electric or magnetic fields are measured and detected.
What is the MR effect?
The MagnetoResistive Effect, "MR-Effect", has been known for 150 years. However, its use in sensor applications was first made practically possible through the development of thin-film technology some 30 years ago.

Machine Tools
Machine tools can provide difficult operating conditions for measurement systems. By providing a unique combination of high resolution, robustness and highly dynamic response, while enabling easy assembly and offering compact dimensions, MR sensors are ideally suited to linear and rotational measurement tasks in this field.

APPLICATION EXAMPLE: Speed measurement for a high-speed spindle
Requirements
An incremental sine-signal encoder shall measure the speed of a high speed spindle for tool and die machining. An index signal shall be generated per revolution. The output signal shall be RS422 compatible.
